The Golf Channel featured a story on the Grayling High School Golf Team’s road to recovery after a great loss.
As auto accident attorneys in Michigan, we are fortunate to be able to help individuals and their families through some of the worst situations imaginable. They or a loved one may be struggling to recover from serious, life-changing injuries, or may be dealing with the loss of a close friend or family member due to circumstances beyond their control.
Hearing about our clients overcoming adversity to return to as normal a life as possible given the circumstances is always encouraging and quite humbling. That’s why we want to share the story of the Grayling High School golf team and what happened to a few of their team members one fateful day last spring. A story about their tragedy and how the team and the town have rebounded was recently featured nationally on the Golf Channel’s “Morning Drive” (the video is embedded below).
Our client, his coach, and a number of other teammates were heading to a golf tournament when their vehicle collided with another van. Unfortunately, the collision claimed the lives of three individuals, including a member of the golf team and the team’s coach. Surviving members were left with numerous severe, traumatic injuries.
The people of Grayling, Michigan, banded together to support the high school golf team’s remaining members. While coming to terms with the devastating loss, they were dedicated to playing on to honor those who were no longer with them and for those who were recovering from the incident. In fact, nine days after their car accident, six more members of the golf team, with two new coaches, headed out to another competition. The team continued to play for the rest of the 2013 season. In 2014, inspired by the courage displayed, the Grayling High School golf team grew to approximately thirty members.
While this was a terrible ordeal, we are inspired by how the players, their families, and the entire Grayling community came together to support each other. We look forward to seeing what the Grayling High School golf team accomplishes in 2015!
